For anyone who reads French there is an impressive piece on the front page of Le Monde describing how France is the leading force in the European blogosphere. One of the main sources seems to be the Mediametrie report Loic Le Meur mentioned last month (and Loic's blog gets a p1 mention).
(As I understand it!) Le Monde reports that on Thursday December 29, 2005, Skyblog saw the launch of its 3.5 millionth blog (together they comprise more than 170 million articles and 260 million comments) with being 2.5m being written by 13 to 24-year-olds. The suggestion that 54pc of French are female reflects a Guardian piece yesterday, which shows that 61% of American men go online each day, compared with 57% of women - but as there are more women than men in the US, women are a numerical the largest web users.
Not surprisingly, one percent of French blogs attract 80pc of the readership, with some attracting 3-10,000 visitors a day, the sort of volumes that should make any PR practitioner inteersted in the under 24 audience pay close attention.
The following charts from www.heaven.fr are self-explanatory:
Well, it seems your French is pretty good. The only thing that's partially incorrect is this part of one sentence:
"2.5m being written by 13 to 24-year-olds"
In fact the article says that 2.5m are being written by teenagers. The "13-24" part describes Skyrock's (radio) clientele.
