Journalists appear in fiction in many guises and play many roles. Sometimes they provide central characters, often they intrude on the action, their attentions as unwelcome as they often are in real life. Scoop! gathers together these appearances under a variety of themes, some amusing, some trivial, some giving an insight into how the Press works and how it is seen to impact on our society.

I dabbled with Taptu last night on your recommendation. I'm sure once I set it up I'll love it, but one - actually two - things - put me off the app.

    1. 'News' seems to have vanished from the categories, Instead I'm faced with choosing from categories such as 'Music' 'Sport' 'Celebrities' and the ideologically dubious 'Women's Interest' (although I can find news sources such as the Guardian if I use the search function)

    2. ... and searching brings me onto an altogether more delicate issue. If I start typing "Journal of Public Relations Research" into the search function, the predictive search just brings up, well, a whole load of rather dubious and male-orientated search terms after I've typed just the first two letters of the name of that esteemed journal. It's all a bit offputting really, and doesn't really endear me to the application. However, one could argue that this is the sort of stuff that I "wouldn't normally have chanced upon" - but I'm not sure if I really want to ...

    Hi Liz,

I'm Mareike from Taptu's Editorial Team.

We were sorry to see you having troubles with our new app and would like to see if we can help you find what you're looking for.

Where in the StreamStore have you searched for News? It's the second result in our Topics.
If you have used the search bar: We've tweaked results yesterday so have a look today and you should find better results.

If you have searched in the Popular section: It's supposed to give you an overview about how diverse our content is and what's popular.

We've added the site you've searched for, it should be there soon.

I've tried to reproduce what you said about male-oriented content and didn't get any such results but please drop us an email to satisfaction[at]taptu.com if you think it persists.

    Best regards
    Mareike Amrhein
