meditation

Some cities are memorable for physical things (iconic buildings or art) others for culture and people. I am finding it hard to put my finger on what I really liked about Malmö which, although having a little more edge than some Swedish cities I have visited, also manages to feel wonderfully relaxed. These are not easy things to capture in photos, which is perhaps why this little film dwells on a street furnitire and Malmö's valiant attempt at iconography, the 54-storey Turning Torso. It is an impressive building but with a horrible name that presumably sounds better if you are a Scandinavian speaking English than someone who has a native's ear...

I was in Malmö to talk run a workshop for the University and to interview PR practitioners for my PhD research - more on this later. For now, here's Malmö: the Movie...

The music includes Eight hundred Streets by Feet from the wonderful Tuesday Wonderland by Esbjorn Svensson Trio and John Gardner's Tomorrow Shall be my Dancing Day performed by the Malmö Academic Choir and Orchestra.
