The EuroBlog 2007 research team is working hard to interpret the findings of the latest survey into the impact of social media on communications practice ahead of the second EuroBlog Symposium to be held in Ghent, Belgium next month.
We will be releasing a summary of the findings shortly but it's not giving away any secrets to say that the results make very interesting reading and show a marked progression from the 2006 survey.
The theme of the Symposium is Social Software: a Revolution for Communication? Implications and Challenges for Public Relations, Journalism and Marketing . An impressive line-up of presentations is headed by keynote speaker Neville Hobson, who will be joined by Jon White (UK), Euprera President Inger Jensen, Roskilde University (Denmark), Philippe Borremans, IBM Global New Media Team (Belgium), Alain Heureux, President IAB Europe (Belgium) and Guillaume du Gardier, Edelman PR, (France).
The first EuroBlog Symposium in Stuttgart was the most stimulating conference I attended last year and having reviewed the abstracts and seen the raw survey data I fully expect Ghent to be even better.
Anyone who reads PR blogs will be well aware that social media is becoming an integral part of PR/ comms practice but they will be fascinated to see to what extent EuroBlog findings highlight the true extent of this fundamental shift in the media landscape.
Full details of the Symposium programme, travel and accommodation details, and how to register can be found on www.leerstoeljoswillems.be.
