A new Guardian survey suggests that more than a quarter of the (UK adult) population has created their own website or blog. At least that's what the standfirst says.
It is actually quite difficult to interpret the figures, or at least to square the 'quarter' claim with the stats shown in an accompanying graphic (unfortunately not available on line) which is based on a Harris online panel of 2,012 adults polled in May. Apparently 9.2pc of respondents said they had created a blog and 16.7pc had created their own website; it is not clear if it is valid to add these figures together - without knowing the question it suggests double counting. Oddly, the number of people who have read a blog is given as 30.8pc, rather closer to the 25.9pc of creators than you might expect.
Another extraordinary story from today's Guardian:
Reuters, has decided it needs to bring the business "news" from Second Life to the rest of us. Residents will also be able to keep up with news out here by visiting the Reuters building which the 155-year-old wire service has built within Second Life.
