Darcus Howe predicts more suicide bombings and the rise of an Islamic political party in his New Statesman column reflecting on the CIPR Rebuilding Hope conference. Certainly his take on Tuhel Miah was less sympathetic than mine - perhaps I wanted to, but I saw someone more bewildered than ambitious. The important thing is that the debate continues; so far I have seen little to suggest that the vital issues raised at Rebuilding Hope have stirred debate within PR circles...
Darcus reaches a disturbing conclusion: "Disaster looms." Time will tell, but it would be wrong to suggest, as he does, that one of the CIPR's slogans for the event was Don't Panic - that's the name of Nicky Wake's event management company which did a good job at Leeds, and for the University of Sunderland's Making the News conference.

Which goes to show that a well-chosen company name can get you attention you did not expect at all. Btw: they did a good job at Sunderland indeed...
