Jody Dunn, left, the Lib-Dem's candidate for Peter Mandelson's Hartlepool seat has made the nationals by launching a campaign diary blog (Tales from the Hartlepool by-election campaign trail). Although slowed down by lines like ' Today's been relatively quiet' and 'Nothing much else to report actually', it presents some useful insights into the street level campaigning and, interestingly, into the challenges of interactive blogging; by launching the diary Jody has offered a platform for splendid nonsense like this from Rachel Wright:
"You sound like a mess and if I lived in Hartlepool I would not vote for you. Who wants to trust their government to someone who continually is undernourished? Examine your life. Eating is important. Eating is important. Marie Claire is a waste of time. If you don't eat properly you can't think properly. You don't sound like your managing lots of things. You sound like you're managing none.
"This is a pr disaster for you."
Really? We will follow the online adventures of the candidate Guardian political correspondent describes as a 'photogenic barrister and mother of four' with interest.
